Consumer Watch:

Beware of manufacturers claiming to have all organic products which do not. They use certificates to try and prove they are organic yet also buy synthetic materials and often use those instead in their products in order to cut costs. Ask any company if they also make a synthetic line.

We worked with Land and Sky, also known as The Natural Bed Store, located in Lincoln, Nebraska in 2008. At that time they sent many foundations and mattresses with Fire Retardant fabrics instead of the organic cotton we provided to them. This caused us, as a truly caring company, to issue a recall and replace all those zip on outers and foundations that used the synthetic fabrics to our customers. Then they proceeded to keep our deposit on our shipment of our mattresses exceeding $50,000. We have talked with customers and these customers have been shipped mattresses with synthetic materials instead of the organic materials they paid for.

1.Here is a picture of some of the mattresses we received from Land and Sky clearly showing the foamy fire retardant barrier they used.

2.Here is the email statement of what that material contains. Sent by representative of Land and Sky. After reviewing the NDS you will see that Land & Sky's A.K.A. The Natural Bed Store's statements of "chemical purity" are false.

3.Here are several emails from some of our customers on what they have received from Land and Sky.

Now we manufacture our own line in our commitment to make sure that only organics are used in Pure-Rest Organics lines. We do not make ANY synthetic mattresses at all and ensure that no chemically filled fabrics such as flame retardant flaps find their way to our mattresses.

Land and Sky/Natural Bed Store still refuse to refund us for all the unshipped mattresses. Now they are suing us for exposing them to you, the consumers.

Lynn Larson-Land and Sky Manufacturing/Natural Bed Store

You are suing us for what we posted, the truth about you. So I am making public your lawsuit and how it is hurting the industry. The organic fiber council will be getting involved in this. Are you sure you wish to have me spend more time making your illegal practices more public. Remember I have 13 mattress outers, and 5 foundations here with your law tag and YOUR synthetic fabric on it. I even have the email admitting you put synthetic fabric in it and that you tried to get me to accept this fabric and your MSDS that you attached clearly showing it as synthetic. Think hard about whether you wish this to play out like that. I give you 4 days. If you continue to try to steal from us, refusing to refund us for mattresses we paid yet you never shipped, then this is going to an all out war. I can prove my stuff, I have organic certificates for everything I say is organic. I have been doing just organics for 17 years now. You have only your synthetic outers in my warehouse that you tried to convince my customers that is was organic. Do not waste our money by playing this game. It hurts customers to lie to them, it hurts the industry to be deceiving and sending synthetics.

By the way, Steve at Vivetique called us. He states he had a customer that ordered an organic foundation from you and you sent them synthetic and tried to tell them it was organic. But unfortunately for you, The customers foundation said clearly that it had synthetic ingredients. So, dilemma. I am posting all info, all pictures I have on our site. You cannot defraud customers like this and I will help them be familiar with how to know if their mattress is indeed organic. It is very hard that you buy so many nonorganic ingredients and that you seem to keep mixing them up.

Also, Marny Turvill at Healthy Green Goods in Illinois clearly wrote to us saying she would be happy to appear and tell all about the synthetic mattresses you shipped to her while telling her they were organic. Luckily she is also diligent about making sure her merchandise is pure.

*****If ANYONE else has had a bad experience with Natural Bed Store/Land and Sky, please email me so I can collect this information and post for other consumers protection and awareness. I have found several major complaints on various websites about customers being mistreated and decieved by this company, so I am looking to get it all in one place. Fighting to protect and inform consumers.
