Any topper can act as a buffer between you and a synthetic standrd mattress. Our wool toppers are made with wool, thus that act as a deterrent to dust mites, ar naturally flame retardant, and naturally bacteria resistant - allows you to sleep on a breathable surface. We do recommend a water resistant puddle pad to protect the topper, especially if you have an infant or bedwetter sleeping with you. We DO NOT recommmend that young babies sleep on this topper.
