Any topper can act as a buffer between you and a synthetic standard mattress. Our wool toppers are made with certified organically processed wool; wool acts as a deterrent to dust mites, a natural flame/fire retardant, and is naturally bacteria resistant - allows you to sleep on a breathable surface. We do recommend a water resistant puddle pad to protect the topper, especially if you have an infant or bedwetter sleeping with you. We DO NOT recommmend that young babies sleep on this topper.
